The 2014 University of Chicago Alumni Club China Summit·Market Reform and Innovation was held at the Beijing Center on December 6. Over 170 alumni from across Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan attended this successful reunion event. With “Market Transformation and Innovation” as its theme, the summit provided an excellent platform and opportunity to strengthen communication and develop friendships through substantial discussion on topics included healthcare, real estate, overseas investment and acquisition, communication/media/technology, capital markets, the culture industry, and consumer products.
Dr. Justin Yifu Lin (Econ ’86), Vice Chairman, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Honorary Dean and Professor, National School of Development(NSD), Peking University, former Cheif Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank, attended the summit and delivered the keynote speech.
Mr. Bin Qi, Director General, Department of International Affairs, China Securities Regulatory Commission, who obtained his MBA from the Booth School of Business, shared his observations of China’s stock market with his fellow schoolmates.
Dali Yang, Professor of Political Science and Faculty Director of the UChicago Center in Beijing, welcomed the guests on behalf of the Beijing Center, and Michael Kulma, Associate Vice President for Global Initiatives at the University of Chicago, delivered welcoming remarks on behalf of President Robert Zimmer.
The summit was organized by the University of Chicago Beijing Alumni Club, led by Paul Wang.
