Beijing Forum 2011 included talks by three current University of Chicago experts: Roger Myerson, Department of Economics, keynote address and the discussion entitled “National Development in the Changing World: Economic and Cultural Perspectives”; David A. Greene, Office of the President, “Innovation in Higher Education: Institutional Threats and Opportunities”; and Dali Yang, Department of Political Science, “Development, Trust and Governance: The Challenges of ‘Harmonious Development'”.
Three of the four keynoters have University of Chicago ties: Economics Professor and Nobel Laureate Roger Myerson, former Dean of the Division of the Social Sciences Colin Lucas and World Bank Chief Economist Justin Yifu Lin, Ph.D. ’86. (The fourth keynoter was Robert Bellah, University of California at Berkeley.)
Organizers: Peking University, the Beijing Municipal Commision of Education and the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies with assistance from the World Bank, the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, the University of Chicago and Beijing Foreign Studies University.
