An Enduring Bond: The Harris School’s Reception at UChicago Center in Beijing

In an event underpinning the UChicago community’s well-established tradition of solidarity and the growing educational exchange between China and the United States, the student delegation from Harris School of Public Policy at UChicago embarked on a policy immersion trip to China over spring break to widen their understanding of public policy from an international perspective. The delegation is led by Brandon Kurzweg, Director of Student Engagement at Harris School of Public Polity.

As one of the highlights of their trip, the student delegation hosted a reception at the University of Chicago Center in Beijing. The reception attracted over fifty attendees including the student delegation, Harris alumni, incoming and prospective students. It served as a vibrant platform for networking, exchanging ideas and fostering abiding relationships among UChicago students and alumni.

The UChicago community in China extended a warm welcome to the student delegation, and the reception was infused with a congenial atmosphere. The event featured extensive dialogues and interactions between the delegates and local participants. Further underscoring the Harris School of Public Policy’s strong incentive to cultivate elites with political acumen and global engagement. The Center also provided delicacies that incorporated both Western and Eastern cooking styles to cater to the guests’ diverse needs and add a meticulous touch to the event.  

The success of the reception showcased the strong and enduring bond between the UChicago community in the United States and the one in China as well as the University’s determination to foster an enduring international collaboration. It marks another milestone in the Harris School of Public Policy’s journey toward fostering well-versed policy leaders capable of navigating the global arena. This event not only emphasized academic exchange but also witnessed mutual respect and amicability which is the capstone of this relationship. It is also important to note that the strong dedication and support of the Center’s staff were vital to the reception’s success.
