On June 17th, the University of Chicago hosted an information session for its Masters in Computational Social Science program at the University of Chicago Center in Beijing. The event took place from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and included a reception for its participants at the center. The information session included details about the program such as course progression, student outcomes, faculty and current student experience, the application process, a Q&A sessions, and other MA programs.
The MA in Computational Social Science (MACSS) is a rigorous two-year MA program that trains students in both social science research and cutting-edge computational methods. MACSS program combines solid foundations in data science and programming with student-tailored research interests in the social sciences. MACSS students develop knowledge, skills, and expertise in computational methods through conducting social scientific research. Students can focus their research in areas such as Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, History, Anthropology, and more.
Dr. Zhao Wang, Assistant Instructional Professor of the Division of Social Science, led the informative session that covered topics such as core courses, research opportunities, student experiences, and career outcomes regarding the program. Sparkle Dalphinis and Jean Clipperton from the Division of Social Science also joined the session remotely on Zoom. This event was a great opportunity to connect with the program directly and learn more about the program.
