Methodology Historiography: Workshop on Chinese Art History by Professor Wu Hung

In the afternoon of October 14th, Professor Wu Hung held a workshop with young professors and graduate students from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University, and the Central Academy of Fine Arts. The three-hour event gave the young scholars a rare opportunity to listen to the world-renowned art historian talking about his writings on Chinese art, many of which became best sellers of recent years in China. The participants also discussed variegated topics including the current state of the field of Chinese art in the West, the validity of the concept “global art,” and the interaction between art history and other disciplines like archaeology, museology and aesthetics.
