Between November 18-22, Naira Ovsepyan, Program Manager at UChicago’s Study Abroad Office, visited China for the first time. During her visit, she met with representatives from Renmin University of China’s School of Chinese Studies and Cultural Exchange and International Students Office to discuss the operations of the East Asian Civilization (Civ) Program and explore ways to enhance future student exchange collaborations.
In addition to her visit to Renmin University, Ms. Ovsepyan engaged with Peking University’s Office of International Relations, toured the campus with Civ Program students, and attended a presentation on PKU’s Deep Dive program, which several UChicago students participated in last summer. She also accompanied Civ Program students to the National Museum of China, gathering their feedback and insights about the program.
Ms. Ovsepyan’s visit represents an important step in strengthening UChicago’s academic partnerships in China. Notably, the university has yet to send a full-year exchange student to Renmin University, but the discussions during her visit provided a clearer roadmap for this goal, laying a solid foundation for future progress.
