A delegation from the WUMER Project (Wuhan University Medical Education Reform) conducted a productive series of meetings and visits across China from late October to early November.
The visit began with participation in the Yangtze-Mississippi Regional Dialogue in Wuhan on October 29, where Jonathan Lio, Associate Director of the WUMER Project, delivered a keynote speech showcasing the partnership’s educational achievements. On October 31, the team visited Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH), engaging with hospital leadership and IMEP graduates who testified to the program's significant impact on faculty development and teaching quality. Later the same day, the delegation met with officials from Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) to discuss trainee selection and future collaboration for the IMEP program.
A key milestone was reached on November 3 with the signing of an institutional MOU between Wuhan University and the University of Chicago, facilitated by Dr. Renslow Sherer, Director of the WUMER Project. Dr. Sherer also contributed as an invited speaker at the Hubei Infectious Diseases Conference on November 8. Throughout the visit, engagements with national accreditation experts yielded positive feedback on the medical education reforms inspired by the collaboration.
