Description:

Specialty training in China is in a stage of early development.  There is a critical need to establish guidelines for clinician competency through the development of standardized fellowship training. Infectious diseases (ID) as a specialty area particularly faces many challenges to train ID specialists. ID has not been recognized as a subspecialty, and there is no comprehensive training curriculum to train and certify qualified ID specialists. In recent years, some elite medical institutions have taken initiatives to design and pilot ID training curricula targeting trainees who have completed standardized residency training programs to become ID specialists.

This conference aims to provide a platform for the ID training insiders to discuss the experiences and lessons learned from these pilot programs, and shed light to other programs that are currently pursuing ways to design and improve ID specialty training. We also hope the discussions will contribute to the development of national ID training guidelines and inspire conversations of evolving roles of modern ID specialty.
