CSSA Orientation for Newly Admitted Students at the UChicago Center in Beijing

On September 1st, the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) hosted its orientation event at the University of Chicago Center in Beijing, welcoming over 50 newly admitted students, including undergraduates, graduate students, and PhD candidates.

The orientation introduced new students to life at the University of Chicago and helped them navigate potential challenges they may face in the city. Topics from studying in UChicago to living in Chicago city are covered in the orientation. Members of the UChicago CSSA shared practical advice on how to hunt for apartments near campus, tips on shopping, and where to access student healthcare services both on and off campus, etc. The speakers also carefully addressed the students’ questions and provided additional resources.

Aside from the practical advice, this event offered the incoming students a precious opportunity to bond with their peers and make connections within the community. Many students expressed excitement about embarking on this new chapter of their lives at the University of Chicago.
