As July 2024 draws close, the in-person send-off events for incoming students at Harris successfully concluded. In this season full of hope and anticipation, the Harris admissions team traveled to Beijing and Shanghai to extend their heartfelt wishes and encouragement to the incoming students as they embark on their new journey. These events also fostered interaction and communication between the new students and the existing members of the Harris community. Everyone gathered to receive special Harris gift packages, deepening their dreams of the future life with shared aspirations.
The event commences with laid-back and joyful self-introductions and icebreaker games, allowing every new student to feel the warmth of the Harris family. A representative from the Harris Career Development Center who is responsible for employer relations in the Greater China region, then provided a detailed overview of Harris’s extensive career development resources. The new and seasoned members of the Harris community gathered for the alumni sharing session where the alumni shared valuable insights and advice with the incoming students to boost their confidence for the upcoming academic journey. In addition, the send-off event featured a variety of raffle activities with enthusiastic participation, filling the venue with continuous laughter.
The event concluded with closing remarks from professor Thomas Coleman, senior lecturer at UChicago Harris. Professor Coleman extended his heartfelt wishes to the incoming students as a fellow alumnus and emphasized the inclusiveness and support of the Harris community.
Following a tea break and lively discussions, the event ended. This in-person send-off not only extended sincere wishes to the new students but also strengthened the cohesion among members of the community. With the care and support from the Harris community, every new student is bound to face new challenges bravely and embark on their unique journeys in the days ahead.
