The UChicago Center in Beijing had the distinct honor of hosting U.S. Ambassador to China, Nick Burns, and the education department of the Embassy, on October 10th. Ambassador Burns, a seasoned diplomat and scholar, engaged with a group of students enrolled in the Center's East Asian Civilization course.
During his visit, Ambassador Burns shared his insights on the evolving U.S.-China relationship, discussed the importance of cultural exchange, and encouraged students to become active participants in shaping the future of bilateral relations. The students, captivated by Ambassador Burns' expertise and passion, had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in lively discussions.
In addition to meeting with the students, Ambassador Burns also had the opportunity to speak with several faculty members, learning about their research and work in China. Dr. Ge, the Executive Director of the Center, conducted a tour of the Center's facilities, showcasing the Center's academic programs and contributions to Sino-American relations.
